After a friend (who also is a writer for this site) shared a TMZ video of Joan Rivers defending Israel quite loudly and vehemently while signing autographs outside of a hotel, I got the idea that maybe not all celebrities hate Israel. Here’s the rundown of a few celebrities who aren’t brain dead.*
1.) Joan Rivers 2.) Bill Maher He’s a tool most of the time, but occasionally he gets it right and in this case he’s pro-Israel and not afraid to talk about it.
“I feel terrible for a Palestinian child who dies,” Maher said. “But if it’s your father, your brother, your uncle who’s firing those rockets into Israel, whose fault is it really? Do you really expect the Israelis not to retaliate?” Earlier last week before Friday’s show, Maher got himself into trouble with some feminist after sending out a tweet about the conflict. He wrote, “Dealing w/ Hamas is like dealing w/ a crazy woman who’s trying to kill u – u can only hold her wrists so long before you have to slap her.” – Jewish Voice NY
3.) Natalie Portman
Where I was born. Where I ate my first Popsicle and used a proper toilet for the first time. Where some of my 18-year-old friends spend their nights in bunkers sleeping with their helmets on. Where security guards are the only jobs in surplus. Where deserts bloom and pioneer stories are sentimentalized. Where a thorny, sweet cactus is the symbol of the ideal Israeli. Where immigrating to Israel is called “ascending” and emigrating from Israel is called “descending.” Where my grandparents were not born, but where they were saved. – Jews News
4.) Jon Voight
“I came to stand alongside Israel and fight the anti-Semitism and lies in the world today,”….
Voight said he is disturbed by Israel’s portrayal in the media, calling it “an important issue.”
“That’s why I am here,” he said, “to deal with the way that Israel is portrayed and the lies that are told about it.”
– Israel Hayom
5.) Mayim Bialik 6.) Omri Casspi 7. David Draiman 8.) Mark Pellegrino 9.) Shyne Po

10.) Gene Simmons This particular quote is from 2011, but I doubt he’s changed since then.
Kiss’ Israeli-born singer-musician Gene Simmons is shouting out loud at the string of musicians who refuse to perform in his homeland. “They’re fools,” the legendary bassist told The Associated Press in an interview Tuesday, on his first return to Israel since leaving the country as a child more than 50 years ago. – Shalom Life
11.) Adam Baldwin (of course) 12.) Nick Searcy 13.) Dr. Ruth Also there’s been a few others, whose support has been less vocal or political, but still visible. Justin Timberlake, Scarlett Johansson, Barbara Streisand, Madonna, and quite a few others. Even if we, the writers at Elementary Politics and conservatives in general, don’t always agree with everyone on this list (in fact sometimes we find them downright silly when it comes to our politics here in the United States) at least we can agree with them on this particular international issue. Which is really sort of awesome. ____ *At least not completely, after all, some of them are still liberals, even if they get the Israel issue right. h/t: Twitchy for several of these.
