Friday Spotlight on Pop Culture: The Princess Bride

I shouldn’t even need to write this article, but it’s come to my attention recently that there are actually people out there (conservatives and liberals alike) who have not watched this film and, worst of all, have no intention of watching it. Claiming it’s too cheesy or campy or that it’s just not important.

First, let me tell you right now, I can’t be your friend if you can’t quote at least 5 minutes of this film from memory, without google to help you.*

This is a classic! In the words of the film, it’s got “Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles… ” and yes, it is a kissing book/movie. Get over it.

The cast of actors is superb and watching it will save you from the embarrassment of not recognizing pop culture references from the film.

And there are a lot of them.

Not convinced?

Here’s some of my favorite scenes.

*It doesn’t have to be 5 straight minutes, but seriously…5 minutes total of quotes from this movie shouldn’t be hard.
