Including how much they hate the United Nations.
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, who is just an all around bad-ass who has the guts to sue his majesty Barack Obama, has stepped up his game.
He’s put the United Nations on notice.
Don’t mess with Texas elections.
That’s the double-down message Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott delivered Thursday to poll watchers affiliated with United Nations who want to come and observe voting on Election Day.
The squabble started after Abbott wrote to the Organization for Security and Co-Operation in Europe, threatening to prosecute any of its members who come near a polling location.
“The OSCE may be entitled to its opinions about Voter ID laws, but your opinion is legally irrelevant in the United States, where the Supreme Court has already determined that Voter ID laws are constitutional,” Abbott wrote.
Abbott concluded his letter by adding that the Texas Election Code governs all election participants and that OSCE officials are not authorized to enter a polling place. He said it “may be a criminal offense for OSCE’s representatives to maintain a presence within 100 feet of a polling place’s entrance.”
“Failure to comply with these requirements could subject the OSCE’s representatives to criminal prosecution for violating state law,” Abbott wrote.

Naturally the OSCE finds this action ‘unacceptable’, but strangely I don’t think Abbott cares what they think. Also, strangely, neither do I.
As I mentioned in my very first post on this website, there are countries like Russia and Venezuala whose ‘leaders’ have completely stolen elections in their country and the UN is worried about Texas voter ID laws? Something is wrong with this picture.
Then again I think something is wrong with the UN in general. After all, how sane can an organization be when they are putting North Korea as the chair of a Disarmament Conference and electing Iran to join the UN’s commission on Women’s Rights.
Abbott’s stance has woken up other state’s on this issue to the point where Iowa is now warning the same group of officials that they are not invited to the election day party at polling stations.
Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz warned a group of international voting monitors that they face arrest if they monitor polling locations in Iowa next week.
“My office met with two delegation representatives last week to discuss Iowa’s election process, and it was explained to them that they are not permitted at the polls,” Schultz said in a statement released Tuesday. “Iowa law is very specific about who is permitted at polling places, and there is no exception for members of this group.”

Good. The UN was getting a little too cocky. We need to keep them in their place.*
*Which, preferably, would be no place at all.
